Dear Ivan, No matter how old you are, the back to school season fills many of us with the excitement and promise of a new school year. But for too many of our young people, it means another year of struggle and frustration to catch up academically. This week, we have a major opportunity to ensure all children enter school ready to learn. As policymakers debate our nation’s spending priorities, United Way is hosting an Education Action Week, taking place from August 19-23, to mobilize concerned citizens to raise awareness for education as students return to classrooms for another academic school year. Will you join our movement to ensure every child enters school ready to succeed? Your support could make all the difference in sending policymakers the message that we must prioritize our nation’s children and invest in a quality education for all. Can I count on you to take one action this week to rally support for education? You can sign a petition, send a tweet or write an op-ed. There are many ways to raise your voice and get involved. Thanks for being part of the change. Sincerely, Steve Taylor Senior Vice President & Counsel for Public Policy United Way Worldwide |
